On the Beat: 20 Years of the Ramble; Higher Ground Stays Put

The Old North End neighborhood of Burlington is hosting its quirky Ramble festival, featuring plant swaps, markets, art galleries, music, and more. Music acts include Stump Ritual, Steph Pappas, and Decaturfest. Singer-songwriter Carling Berkhout has released a new single and is dropping a debut LP titled Omens. However, South Burlington’s Higher Ground will not be moving to Burlington’s South End as previously planned, as Burton and the venue have called off their engagement. The reason for the decision remains unclear. Higher Ground is still seeking a new venue to bring live music performances to the area. Photographer Luke Awtry captured live music highlights at Tank Recording Studios featuring LaMP. The studio is launching TRS Live, a music series to support recording costs and provide fans with live studio session experiences. The music scene in Vermont continues to thrive despite challenges faced by musicians and music venues.
