North Indian classical music comes to Brooks Memorial Library | Community-news

Vermont Humanities is hosting a Fall Festival called Deep Cuts that will explore the past, present, and future of music through various events across the state. The festival will include music, discussions, history, and events related to the Vermont Reads 2023 pick, Last Night at the Telegraph Club. One of the events will be a special presentation on North Indian classical music at Brooks Memorial Library on October 28th. This presentation will explore the tradition of North Indian classical music, which has been passed down through a guru-disciple relationship for hundreds of years. Musicians Pat Lambdin and Amit Kavthekar will provide a fresh perspective on this living tradition. The festival will also include a performance by Kaki King and Treya Lam, in partnership with the UVM Lane Series. The event is open to the public and more information can be found on the Vermont Humanities website. This is an opportunity to learn about and experience the rich tradition of North Indian classical music and to engage with the future of music through the performances and events at the festival.
