Join us on the Campus at Marlboro Music for a series of thoughtful public conversations about the ideas that shape our lives. Authors, poets, historians, and essayists will explore enduring questions through the lens of literature, history, memory, place, ethics, creativity, and civic life. Rather than traditional book talks or readings, each gathering is built around conversation—an opportunity to listen deeply, ask questions, and consider multiple perspectives in the company of others. Whether you are an avid reader, a lifelong learner, an aspiring writer, or simply curious about the world around you, we hope you will join us.

In Conversation is being offered in conjunction with the culminating performances of Marlboro Music’s Artist Residency program. It is presented in partnership with Word House, led by Vermont writer Robin Marie MacArthur, and supported by a generous grant from the Vermont Humanities Council. A reception follows each event.

All In Conversation events take place on the Campus at Marlboro Music (2582 South Rd, Marlboro, VT) in the Whittemore Theater. Registration is required. A suggested donation of $25 helps support the series, but all are welcome regardless of ability to contribute. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, complimentary admission is available for students and members of the community for whom cost would otherwise be a barrier. Reservations open approximately four weeks before each event. Seating is general admission. Books will be for sale before and after the event.

About the Writers

Bianca Stone

Bianca Stone is a poet and scholar currently serving as Vermont’s poet laureate. Stone is the author of the poetry collections, What is Otherwise Infinite (Tin House, 2022) winner of the 2022 Vermont Book Award; The Möbius Strip Club of Grief (Tin House, 2018), Someone Else’s Wedding Vows (Octopus Books and Tin House, 2014); The Near and Distant World (Tin House, 2026), and collaborated with Anne Carson on the illuminated version of Carson’s translation of Sophocles’ Antigonick (New Directions, 2012). Her poetry and writings have appeared widely in such magazines as The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Poets and Writers, The Nation and the Best American Poetry series. Bianca Stone has been serving as visiting faculty member in poetry at Bennington College’s MFA program, UMass Amherst MFA, Dartmouth College, and Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is Creative Director at Ruth Stone where she hosts the Ode & Psyche podcast.

Mark Wunderlich

Mark Wunderlich is the author of five collections of poems, the most recent of which is MATEY, forthcoming from Graywolf Press. His other collections include God of Nothingness, The Earth Avails, winner of the Rilke Prize, Voluntary Servitude, and The Anchorage which received the Lambda Literary Award. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts, Civitella Ranieri Foundation, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Amy Lowell Trust, the Wallace Stegner Fellowship Program at Stanford University, and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. He has published poems in the New Yorker, the Nation, The New Republic, New York Times Magazine, Poetry, Paris Review and his work is widely anthologized. He is Executive Director of the Bennington Writing Seminars at Bennington College where he has worked since 2003.
