Bandsaw Basics: Make a Spiral Trivet

March 21 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

$63.75 – $75

No woodworking experience required.
One of the most common uses for the bandsaw is cutting curves. Learn how to safely operate this woodshop workhorse while making a unique project with a clever spiral design.

Learn. We’ll start with the basics: machine set-up and safety, and hands-on practice cutting wide and tight curves. Next you’ll work on your trivet, cutting out your spiral pattern on a piece of cherry wood, following a template pattern. You’ll learn how to smooth edges using hand tools and spindle sanders, finishing up with a protective coat of mineral oil.

Make. You’ll make a 3-piece cherry wood trivet with an interlocking, spiral pattern. Pieces can be used together as one trivet, or separately as three

Get Certified. This class will cover the safe operation of the bandsaw machine and will help prepare you for our certification test. To use this machine independently, you must be a member and pass our certification test. For more information and to schedule a testing session, please contact info@hatchspace.org.
