This year youth members of Youth 4 Change (Y4C) @youth4changeaction have named a need to focus on HEALING, and one form of healing is having fun! So we’ve decided to host a youth/teen dance. We believe in honest and uncensored expression, this means the music at our dance will match what we actually listen to, i.e the uncensored versions of all our favorites.
We invite ALL youth between the ages of 14-18
(with additional invites to current Y4C members between the ages of 12-22)

Music by DJ Chele: (@djchelevt) is an El Salvadorian Vermonter who will be bringing us non stop bangers to dance and let loose! He loves Reggaeton, supporting BIPOC and youth centered spaces, and centering rest as a form of resistance.

In-sight photography makes photography more accessible to the youth of our community. They are located in downtown Brattleboro.

Youth centered Space,: This is a space by youth for youth! Parents please drop off/pick up your beloved youth at the door *Adult chaperones will be present.
Inclusivity and Accessibility
Y4C and our dance is open to youth of All identities and abilities. We especially invite in youth who are BIPOC, Queer, Trans, Gender Non confirming, Disabled, and identify as a most impacted demographic.
ALL YOUTH who benefit from an ADULT AID are invited to bring an adult of their choice to support them in having fun at our dance!
The Root is a physically accessible space on the first floor of the Whetstone Art building with an outdoor ramp and open indoor layout.
We will also provide an outdoor space (weather permitted) for youth to take a break if they experience sensory overload and/or need to decompress.
Dress code: Come as you are!
This is an informal dance AND youth are invited to dress in whatever makes you feel happy and confident! Members of Y4C love a mix of bright colors, cultural garments, glitter, goth, fancy, unique clothes and more!

Youth 4 Change (Y4C) is a youth program of The Root Social Justice Center. It was founded by youth who identify as activists, artists, leaders and more, with the aim of elevating youth leadership within their communities. The program is a multi-cultural space open to youth ages 12-22, and we are continuously building and designing the program based on the youth’s interests and needs. Y4C’s core values: of arts, action, education, and healing , agreements, and more are designed by youth members.
