Works & Process: Limón Dance Company
Join us for an inside look at the creation of a monumental dance event. Renowned contemporary choreographer Akram Khan is reenvisioning José Limón’s 1949 choreographic masterpiece, The Moor’s Pavane. Developed in part during their Works & Process residency at The Campus at Marlboro Music, this informal showcase offers a rare glimpse into the creative process before the work’s global premiere. This free performance takes place on January 16 at 3 pm in the Serkin Dance Studio. Seating is limited, and reservations are required.
This collaboration marks the largest choreographic commission in the Limón Dance Company’s 80-year history. By filtering the Shakespearean tragedy of Othello through a modern lens, The Moor’s Pavane Reimagined explores enduring and visceral themes of race, power, and jealousy, while drawing profound parallels between the lived experiences of both Limón and Khan as immigrant artists.
