Trio Madeleine

Now in its third season, Marlboro Music’s artist residency program brings exceptional chamber music ensembles to Marlboro’s southern Vermont campus throughout the year for deep creative work and concert offerings. Each group is in residence for 1 to 3 weeks, enjoying concentrated time together in a retreat-like environment where they can rehearse new repertoire, prepare for recording projects, develop community engagement programs, and more. Every ensemble in residence includes at least one Marlboro Music artist, and each residency culminates with a free informal concert, in which the groups share the results of their work with our local community.

This residency performance spotlights Trio Madeleine, featuring Marlboro violinist Clara Neubauer, pianist Adria Ye, and cellist Leland Ko.

About Trio Madeleine

Trio Madeleine brings together three deeply accomplished young chamber musicians. Violinist Clara Neubauer, praised for her “seductive artistry” and “rare grace” by Classical Voice North America, grew up in a family of professional musicians and found her love for chamber music from an early age, first playing duos with her older brother at age five. She is a founding member of the Tobias Quartet and part of the Neubauer/McDermott Family Quartet and has appeared at festivals including Marlboro, Kronberg, Ravinia, and Music@Menlo. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music at Juilliard with Catherine Cho and Itzhak Perlman as a Kovner Fellow. Cellist Leland Ko has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in venues across America and abroad, and is a first prize winner of the Concours Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the Concert Artists Guild Louis and Susan Meisel Competition, and the Walter W. Naumburg International Cello Competition. In March 2026, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant. He is cellist of Trio Rai, the OAK Trio, and the Phaidros Quartet, and a frequent member of Sejong Soloists. He earned his M.M. at Juilliard and is an Artist Diploma candidate at New England Conservatory. Pianist Adria Ye began piano study at age five and made her orchestral debut with the Oregon Sinfonietta at age nine. An avid chamber musician, she has participated in festivals including the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival’s David Finckel-Wu Han Chamber Music Studio, and she won the 2022 Music Academy of the West Solo Piano Competition and the Paul Streit Special Prize at the 2022 Concours de Genève. She earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Juilliard and a graduate diploma at New England Conservatory.
