The Eleventh Year w/ Music by PSYCHEDELIC CINEMA ORCHESTRA!

Psychedelic Cinema Orchestra premieres a new score for Dziga Vertov’s dynamic visual hymn, The Eleventh Year (1927), a rarely seen and newly restored masterpiece of Ukrainian cinema.

The Eleventh Year is a Soviet silent documentary directed by Dziga Vertov and photographed by cinematographer Mikhail Kaufman. Commissioned for the eleventh anniversary of the October Revolution, the film documents the accelerated industrialization and modernization of Ukraine, including the construction of power stations, the expansion of the coal industry in Donbas, and the transformation of the agricultural landscape.

The Psychedelic Cinema Orchestra is a four-person ensemble that composes contemporary scores for silent films. Led by Ken Winokur, former director, composer, and percussionist for Alloy Orchestra, PCO has scored and performed films including South, The Lodger, and Psychedelic Cinema.

The group features Ken Winokur, Jonathan LaMaster, Russ Gershon, and P. Andrew Willis. The performances will raise funds for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, with a significant portion of proceeds donated to humanitarian relief agencies.
