Learn. Students will be introduced to joinery techniques using machines and hand tools to explore joints like the box joint and the rabbet, dovetails and advanced miter techniques like splining and ornamental pinning. We will dive into fitting of lids and bases, gluing techniques, and finishing. We will also discuss some basic design principles such as proportion, function, and joinery choices.
Make. Each student will leave with a completed box of their own, so don’t miss out on this fun box-travaganza!
2 Sessions: Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1 | 9:00am – 5:00pm | Class will break for a 1/2 hour lunch each day.
Cost: $440 members, $515 non-members.
What to Bring: Bring a bag lunch, or you may visit nearby downtown Brattleboro to purchase lunch. Bring a piece of wood you would like to use for the box top and/or bottom, if you like.
