Erik Curtis and Larissa Huff return to HatchSpace to teach the basics of box design, as well as techniques such as dovetails, advanced mitering and how to incorporate hand tools in your build.
Students will be introduced to joinery techniques using machines and hand tools to explore joints like the box joint and the rabbet, dovetails and advanced miter techniques like splining and ornamental pinning. We will dive into fitting of lids and bases, gluing techniques, and finishing. We will also discuss some basic design principles such as proportion, function, and joinery choices.
Each student will leave with a completed box of their own, so don’t miss out on this fun box-travaganza!
