The Arc of Oblivion, 2023, 98 mins. Why are we so hellbent on leaving a trace in a universe that erases its tracks?

From executive producer Werner Herzog (“Cave of Forgotten Dreams”; “Grizzly Man”) and director Ian Cheney (“King Corn”),

THE ARC OF OBLIVION is an unexpectedly playful search for an answer to a deeply existential question. This fascinating odyssey begins the filmmaker’s quixotic quest to build an ark in a field in Maine and then heads far afield—to salt mines in the Alps, fjords in the Arctic, and ancient libraries in the Sahara—to illuminate the strange world of archives, record-keeping, and memory. Charmingly off-beat and disarmingly self-aware, the film weaves stop-motion animation, spellbinding cinematography, and fascinating interviews from the director’s inner circle and experts in the fields of science, culture, and art for an embrace of the unknown that is liberating and leaves viewers with space to draw their conclusions.

Great Falls Harvest is a family-owned farm-to-table restaurant, market, and test kitchen that uses seasonal local ingredients from regenerative, sustainable food systems. With roots in the slow food movement, Chef Chris Menegoni crafts exciting global cuisine bursting with color, flavor, and texture. Their botanical apothecary creates deep kitchen medicine-of-the-moment, innovative, therapeutic cuisine for rapid and unpredictable change.

Spaces for the post-film dinner are minimal, including the screening at 5:15 pm, a 3-course feast, and curated wines at 7:15.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM:

“A documentary about building an ark turns into a funny, thoughtful rumination on the nature of human preservation.”

— The New York Times

“Deeply philosophical, poignant, and profound.” — FILM THREAT
