Play in a Day 2026 performance!

Vermont Theatre Company will present its annual Play in a Day festival on Saturday, April 25th, at 7:30 pm, at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston, VT. Auditions will take place the night before (also at the Grange) on Friday, April 24th, at 6:30 pm.
5 Brand new plays, from prompt to production to performance, all within a day!
Play in a Day gives writers, directors and actors the opportunity to work together in a fast-paced, intense and exciting environment. In just 24 hours, 5 short plays are cast, written, rehearsed and performed. It’s a whirlwind of a process and audiences will not want to miss out on the end result.
Producer Casey Parles has brought together five local directors and writers to create an unforgettable experience for the cast, crew and for the audience. Our teams include artist and director Dante Heartwood who is paired with local playwright Isabella Watkins; NEYT Artistic Director Ben Stockman will be collaborating with VTC newcomer and writer Kevin Berry; actor and stage manager Lucy Webb is directing for multifaceted storyteller Omei Marshall; performer and director Saskia Bailey-de Bruijn will be teamed up with actor and writer Jesse Farrar, and actor and director Tracy Berchi is working with writer and VTC Artistic Director Jess Iris.
For those interested in auditioning, please RSVP on the Play in a Day Audition form at vermonttheatrecompany.org. Come prepared to have some fun; auditions will consist of reading 6-8 line scenes and responding to requests from the directing/writing team. Casting decisions will be made by 8:30 pm, and then the writers get to work! If actors are cast – be ready to spend all of Saturday rehearsing and having some fun.
Tickets are pay what you can with a $10-15 suggested donation and will be available at the door.
