Nature Journaling Workshop

Add art to your daily walks with this new class exploring the beauty of the details of the plants and insects in your neighborhood. This class, led Kirsten Martsi, will cover the elements of a nature journaling practice, and will teach observational drawing and journaling. Learn how to use a combination of watercolors and pen and ink drawing to capture the small and dynamic changes in your world. This class is recommended for people ages 14 and up.

Students should bring their own supplies of choice. Suggested materials include:

Journal with multimedia or watercolor paper

Magnifying lens

Pencil and eraser

Black pen

Watercolor set

Art supplies are available at Zephyr Designs in downtown Brattleboro. This Nature Journaling Workshop is a part of Retreat Farm’s new Land & Its People Initiative, and it’s presented in partnership with the River Gallery School of Art.

The workshop will be fully outside, weather permitting. In the event of rain, the class portion will be in the Calf Barn. Rain or shine, a portion of the workshop will involve a walk in the woods.
