MARE’S NEST (2025) VERMONT PREMIERE!

Moon seeks meaning amid uncertainty in a mysterious world free of adults, encountering alternative ways of living on her journey. Shot beautifully on 16mm, Mare’s Nest offers a hopeful take on post-apocalyptic storytelling. The screening includes an opening performance by Tucson-based duo Group Chat.

The film follows Moon through unfamiliar landscapes and solitary communities as she seeks meaning in a world without adults. It is adapted in part from Don DeLillo’s one-act play The Word for Snow.

Group Chat is a Tucson-based improvisational experimental sound duo composed of Jacqueline Arias and Zack Lischer-Katz. Their work combines looped vocals, brooding guitar noise, and layered surf-psych textures.
