You will be guided step by step through the process of making your unique hardwood and glass lamp.

Session 1: We will create the three sides of your lamp complete inlays by using the table saw and thickness planer. We will then glue the inlay strips in place. While those dry we will start work on the base.

Session 2: After finishing the base and cleaning up your side pieces we will use a hand drill to attach them using dowels. While the body of the lamp dries in glue up we will shape the stained glass panels. We will then go over types of wood finish for you to apply on your own at home or at HatchSpace on your own time (due to glue-up time, lamp bodies may need to be picked up the following day or a future date).

Learn the safe use of the table saw and thickness planer along with the miter saw, router table and drill press, along with how to glue inlays, cut glass and smooth it using a grinding wheel.

When signing up, please email education@hatchspace.org with your top three choices for glass color.

Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21  9am – 5pm
