Designed for those new to laser cutting, this workshop will provide hands-on training for our S1 xTool 40 watt laser cutter and engraver. You’ll get to know what a laser cutter is, how it works, and the basics of what it can do. We’ll focus on wood fabrication techniques and cover the principles of cutting, scoring and engraving. You’ll cut your own pair of earrings, choosing from several template designs, and we’ll discuss different ways they can be finished and decorated.

Learn. In this class, we will cover the basics of laser cutting and engraving for wood based materials, and discuss the different types of commonly used lasers. You’ll learn the basics of the software program, xTool Studio, to prepare your digital files for cutting. We’ll also cover machine setup and calibration, and review safe practices when using a laser.
