Lunchtime Pipe Organ Series: Ed Broms

March 6 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Our first organ performance in 2024! Tickets by Donation.
Dubbed a “Renaissance Man” by The Boston Globe, multi-instrumentalist Ed Broms is equally at home on stage with Blue Man Group as he is in the choir loft. Broms draws on a multitude of influences to find unexpected harmonies between different cultures and traditions.

BIO:
Ed Broms has many years of experience in sacred music. Most notably he served as Music Director and Organist at the Episcopal Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston. During his time there, Ed performed major masterworks of Bach, Brahms, Britten, Handel, Fauré, Pergolesi and Duruflé, and weekly organ improvisations; as well as hosting both a jazz and classical recital series and producing the radio program Sundays at the Cathedral featuring live recordings from services. He founded three professional choral ensembles and commissioned, composed and premiered numerous pieces of music. After several years on the Piano Faculty and serving as Chair of the Jazz, Rock and Pop Department at South Shore Conservatory, he was later Organist at Convent Avenue Baptist Church in Harlem, NY where he was part of a dynamic and historic Gospel Music program featuring 6 choirs; and guest directed the Sanctuary Choir and the famous Men’s Choir.

Ed currently also works as the Accompanist Supervisor within the Voice Department at the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he oversees over 100 Professional and Student musicians. Dubbed a “Renaissance Man” by The Boston Globe and described as a “Musician’s Musician” by colleagues, Broms is a mainstay of the music community in New England. He is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, pipe organ, Hammond organ, electric bass, voice, guitar, percussion) and active recording artist. Equally at home on stage with Blue Man Group and in the choir loft, Broms draws on a multitude of influences from “all times and all lands”, finding unexpected harmonies between different cultures and traditions, and making extraordinary music no matter what instrument he finds at hand.
