Josh David Barrett & Judah Tribe w/s/g Prince Negasi

April 27, 2023 @ 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

From his musical upbringings in church to performing with today’s top artists, two time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, bassist, and producer Joshua David Barrett continues to inspire many through his diverse musical palette. A native of New Jersey of Ethiopian, American-indigenous and Jamaican ascent, Josh David grew up around

many cutting edge musicians, hailing from Union County same as legendary Funk group, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic.

His extensive experience as a bassist led him to work with such artists as: Gospel greats, Bishop George Searight & Royal Priesthood, Tramaine Hawkins, Kim Burrell, Donovan Jackson & Joshua Generation; Hip-Hop legends Q-Tip(ATCQ), Common,

legendary producer Quincy Jones, Mary J. Blige, Joy Denalane(Motown), Smif-n-Wesson, Silent Knight, Soul Cycle, Soul Understated, Zoe Mazah, Solange Knowles, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, and Kanye West. Recent collaborations include top Bluesman and CEO of True Groove Records, Tomás Doncker, renowned Ethiopian singer Teddy Afro, Jesse Royal, Grammy award winning producer Commissioner Gordon(Lauryn Hill,

Amy Winehouse, Ghetto Youths), as well as Afro-Beat and Dancehall collaborations with DJ Jahmar and Maya Azucena. Josh David answered the call to Reggae music and formed the band Judah Tribe along with Bredren and Sistren in 2004. Their debut album “Nu Day Dawnin” was

released independently in 2013. Having performed extensively throughout the Tri-State Area in such places as the United Nations, to opening for such bands as Steel Pulse and Inner Circle, destiny would have it that Judah

Tribe would open for The Wailers, the legendary group founded by the late Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer in 2012 at New Jersey

Performing Arts Center. It was here he crossed paths with distant relatives, Aston “FamilyMan” Barrett and Aston Jr. leading to his joining forces with the Wailers as lead vocalist in 2015 spreading JAH message of “One Love”. The Wailers released their debut album after 25 years, “One World”, produced by Emilio Estefan, Josh David, and Aston Barrett, Jr. No matter the stage you may find him on, Josh David’s energetic performances remain steadfast as a singer and player on instruments through his Rastafarian faith honoring the life and legacy of Ethiopian Emperor of the Solomonic Dynasty, and Rastafarian God, Emperor Haile Selassie I,

spreading the message of true “Livity” and jamming in the name of The LORD.
