Make a unique curve-shaped box using one of the most versatile tools in the wood shop: the bandsaw.
Learn. We’ll start by reviewing bandsaw basics: machine safety and operation, followed by hands-on practice cutting wide and tight curves. Next you’ll cut out your own bandsaw box, following a template applied to a block of wood. Subsequent steps include cutting out the drawer, smoothing the various parts, glueing up the pieces in proper order, sanding and smoothing, dealing with “mistakes”, and finally choosing a finish to apply. This class consists of two sessions a day apart. If there is time, you will start a second box using a provided template or guidance on how to create your own design.
Make. Students will make at least one hardwood bandsaw box, using their choice of design.
2 Sessions: Friday & Saturday, May 30 & 31 | 11am – 2pm
Cost: $175 non-members: $148.75 members (materials included)
