Hidden in the Hills: Black Box Museum
Next up in our “Hidden in the Hills” series of excursions to off-the-beaten-track art venues surrounding Brattleboro is a visit to Christopher Sproat’s Black Box Museum, an immersive installation that imagines the remnants of a parallel civilization through sculpture, architecture, and symbolic objects. Influenced by art history, science fiction, mythology, and the natural world, the installation combines familiar and fantastical forms into a world that is at once beautiful and unsettling. Visitors are invited to reflect on humanity’s relationship with the natural world and imagine what might endure long after our own civilization has changed.
