118 Elliot presents ‘The Long Way’, an Exhibit of Drawings by Aron Namenwirth, which will open with an artist’s reception from 5-9 PM during Brattleboro’s Gallery Walk on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Come one, come all to the first annual Vermont Cheese Cup at Retreat Farm in Brattleboro!
This donation-based family-friendly event is for medieval enthusiasts, Armored Combat enthusiasts, and really anyone who loves live music, food trucks, Vermont fine crafts, and a good bar while watching modern day knights compete (quite literally) for the big cheese.
Armored Combat is pretty much what it sounds like: a full contact medieval sport with real armor and real blunted weapons. Vermont Armored Combat Team Captain, Will Alloway, is bringing some of the best in international and national Armored Combat fighters here to Southern Vermont to compete in big group battles, and duels of skill with longsword, sword and shield, axes, and more! Yes, that’s right: we’ve got fighters flying in from the UK, Canada, Texas and more to give you a show.

Sword play workshops for kids during the day are in the works with a wonderful local partner (preregistration will be required — stay tuned!).
All profits from donations go to Retreat Farm’s local non profit work.
Interested in trying out the sport yourself? The Vermont Armored Combat Club will be opening up try-it-outs for new members in Spring 2023 — reach out to us via Facebook Message to learn more.
