Join us for a fundraising event at Southmowing Stables!
This event will be focused on making sure your horses have an adequately enriched life! Sara Matters, M.A, ABCDT, a Brattleboro based dog/animal trainer who excels in work with equines, will give a presentation covering what enrichment is, why it’s important for excellent animal husbandry, and how you can implement it. Enrichment is a discipline that considers what animals would experience if living free and how best to mimic that in their captive lives. It also explores how adding things to their environment may ameliorate behavior problems. You will explore the difference between environmental enrichment – what the horse’s environment as a whole includes, and behavioral enrichment – targeted strategies to address behavior problems. At this event you will make and provide enrichment “toys” or activities for horses and observe what the animals do with the opportunities presented to them, as well as how enrichment stimulates behavior. This is a perfect opportunity for those who would like to give their horses a more full life!
The cost of this event is $50, and to register please send an email to alecdandelions@gmail.com
