Emerging Artist Festival featuring Elena Pinderhughes
The Emerging Artist Festival (EAF) began as a way to intentionally feature young, emerging artists in the Jazz Center’s monthly concert programming. Now in its 9th year, the festival has grown into a weekend-long program that brings together student performances, artist clinics, and a headline concert, connecting young musicians with mentors and other youth involved with jazz music. This year’s headliner is Elena Pinderhughes.
Elena Pinderhughes is one of the leading flutists of her generation. An award-winning flutist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter, Pinderhughes moves effortlessly between jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and orchestral music, redefining the flute as a leading voice. She has contributed to the Academy Award-nominated score for American Fiction and HBO’s Duster, as well as collaborated with a range of artists including Herbie Hancock, Chief Adjuah, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, Cynthia Erivo and others.
