Damon & Naomi + Wet Tuna + Dredd Foole

October 19, 2023 @ 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM

Doors 7:30, performances start shortly after 8pm.

Untethered and free, Damon and Naomi make all your folk-pop dreams melt into the sunset… Our journey into the night includes the non-traditional folk-blues-raga music and poetry of Dredd Foole, and the mind-melting space-folk explorations of Wet Tuna.
Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang began playing music together as the rhythm section, co-songwriters, and sometime singers in Galaxie 500. The band’s influential albums (Today, On Fire, and This Is Our Music) were genre-defying landmarks of atmospheric post-punk, inspiring countless other artists who followed in their wake. Since the demise of Galaxie 500, Damon & Naomi have worked as a duo, exploring folk music, psychedelia, and collaborations with other like-minded musicians. After releasing a series of recordings with Shimmy Disc, Sub Pop, and Drag City, they established their own label 20/20/20, releasing the Damon & Naomi albums The Earth Is Blue, Within These Walls, False Beats and True Hearts, and Fortune – alongside reissues of their earlier LPs, and the Galaxie 500 back catalogue. Their newest album, A Sky Record, was released by 20/20/20 in August 2021.

Praise for A Sky Record:

“A calming and tender reflection on appreciating what you have in uncertain times.” Pitchfork

“This is one of Damon & Naomi’s most purely gorgeous sounding records — and considering the glories of what’s come before, that’s a real accomplishment.” Aquarium Drunkard

“At times it taps into the beauty of caring enough to be hurt by loss, but it also feels like a quiet celebration of resilience.” Chicago Reader

“The album is beautiful — an ambient dreamscape set to poetry.” WBUR

“Rooted in sleep rituals, meditative lulls, and anchor points to keep life from roaming adrift.” Raven Sings The Blues

Dredd Foole, aka Dan Ireton sings with one of the most electrifying post-Tim Buckley vocal chords ever heard. With homemade instruments he creates multiphonic non-traditional folk-blues-raga music with apocalyptic power-appeal/ personal trance-sound-vision & legitimate psychedelic space-whisper revelations.

Wet Tuna was formed by Matt Valentine in Vermont in 2016. Pure free-folk far-reaching individualism described by Tyler Wilcox of Pitchfork as occupying “fertile common ground between Canned Heat and CAN. Uncanny”!!!

Critical Acclaim for Wet Tuna:

“Think: pencil-thin mustaches, forest-dwelling wizards on a shroom voyage, festival-ready solos, Don Cherry’s whispered funksterpiece “Brown Rice” and Funkadelic’s dictum to free your mind…your ass will follow.” – NPR

“Utterly boo-licious…The results make for one of the more mind-melting platters to’ve hit the Valley in a good while… rurally expansive sound known for guitar-aktion…like something happening in the back of Daevid Allen’s brain. roll a bone or be one. The choice, as always, is yours.”- BYRON COLEY
