In partnership with Vermont Folklife and Out in the Open, and in connection with the exhibition PRIDE 1983, we’re gathering to remember and celebrate Andrews Inn, the legendary gay disco, bar, hotel, restaurant, co-counseling site, and community space in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
Beginning at 10 a.m., interviewers from Vermont Folklife will be at BMAC to record new interviews about Vermont’s queer community for the Queer Archives Collection. Drop by anytime throughout the day to share your story, no appointment necessary.
At 5 p.m., Out in the Open Executive Director HB Lozito will moderate a panel discussion with some of the local icons who brought Andrews Inn to life and sustained it from inception in 1973 until its doors closed for the final time in 1984. Following the panel discussion, from 6 to 8 p.m., we will turn back time with an Andrews Inn-inspired party, replete with pop-up bar, 70s decor and attire, and the disco hits you loved to dance to. All are welcome.
