Stratton Mountain Teams Up to Preserve the Soul of Skiing in Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO, VT – A heartwarming partnership between Stratton Mountain and the Brattleboro Ski Hill is keeping the spirit of skiing alive for future generations. As one of Vermont’s original ski destinations, Brattleboro Ski Hill has been a cherished hub for winter sports enthusiasts since its founding 23 years before Stratton Mountain opened.

This winter, Stratton is stepping up to help preserve the soul of skiing by loaning two high-efficiency HKD snow guns to expand the Brattleboro Ski Hill’s snowmaking capacity—a game-changing addition for a community-run ski hill.

🎿 A Historic Legacy of Community Skiing

Long before major resorts dotted Vermont’s landscape, Brattleboro Ski Hill was a pioneer in the sport. Skiers from Connecticut and New York flocked to the area, with busloads of visitors lining up for the 1,100-foot rope tow on weekends.

Today, this small but mighty community hill continues to foster the love of skiing with its $5 lift tickets and $75 season passes, ensuring that the sport remains affordable and accessible for families in Vermont.

❄️ Stratton Steps Up with Snowmaking Support

With the changing climate, snowmaking has become vital for ski areas across New England, big and small. To help keep the Brattleboro Ski Hill thriving, Stratton Mountain has loaned two state-of-the-art HKD snow guns to support the ski hill’s snowmaking operations.

Todd Fahey, Vice President of the Brattleboro Ski Hill Board, expressed his gratitude:

“The brand-new HKD snow guns are the type of equipment a small operation like ours can only dream of. We’re incredibly grateful to Stratton for recognizing the important role community ski hills play in keeping this sport accessible.”

🏔️ Opening Day Celebration – Free Lift Tickets!

Thanks to this partnership, the Brattleboro Ski Hill will open for the season on Tuesday, December 31st, 2024!

🎉 To celebrate opening day, Stratton Mountain will cover the cost of lift tickets for the first 50 skiers and riders!

❤️ A 100% Volunteer-Run Operation

The Brattleboro Ski Hill is a 100% volunteer-driven organization where locals help with snowmaking, grooming, running the lifts, and even serving hot cocoa. This passion-driven effort has transformed Living Memorial Park into a vibrant winter playground for all ages.

Craig Panarisi, Vice President of Mountain Operations at Stratton, shared his enthusiasm:

“We’re ecstatic to provide snowmaking support for such an important community centerpiece in our backyard. The Brattleboro Ski Hill is instrumental in growing the ski and ride community in Vermont and keeping those first days on the hill accessible for all ages. I look forward to taking a few runs myself this winter!”
