Winooski’s Waking Windows festival will conclude its 15-year run from May 2 to May 4. The festival, which began in 2011 at the Monkey House, expanded to occupy much of downtown Winooski, featuring acts like Pond and Japanese Breakfast alongside local Vermont artists. The founders announced the festival’s ending due to rising financial pressures and personal commitments. They expressed sadness over the closure, stressing the importance of supporting beloved local events to prevent their disappearance.
In light of this bittersweet news, the Foam Brewers’ birthday bash titled “Bizarre Celebrations: Cloud 9” will take place from April 25 to April 27, celebrating nine years of the Burlington brewery. The three-day event will feature a variety of performances, including DJ Disco Phantom, indie-pop band Madaila, and more, showcasing a diverse lineup that reflects Foam’s integral role in the local music scene.
Additionally, folk musician Bob Bovee will perform at the Adamant Community Club on April 26. Bovee, known for his cowboy music and engaging storytelling, is a veteran performer with a repertoire rich in folklore. The unique venue, an old schoolhouse, adds an interesting charm to the concert experience.
As both the end of Waking Windows and the vibrant ongoing celebrations at Foam highlight, the local music scene thrives on community support and appreciation, emphasizing a collective spirit that enriches regional culture.
