On March 29, Rutland hosted the fourth annual Punk Rock Flea Market, organized by Nick Grandchamp, the guitarist for Dead Street Dreamers. Renowned for his influence in the local punk scene, Grandchamp brought together various Vermont punk rockers who showcased an array of items for sale, including clothing, vinyl records, musical instruments, and artwork. Notable participants included Julian Hackney from Rough Francis, who offered his own Young at Heart ginger beer; photographer T.L. Cook; Dominique Darko from the grindcore band Augrah; and designer Jon Testa with his Mean Folk line of bold apparel and stickers.
The event featured live music as DJ duo Selector David and Unhappy Hour, consisting of David Zacharis and Bobby Hackney Jr., provided an energetic soundtrack to the day. Attendees enjoyed a lively atmosphere filled with camaraderie and shared passions for punk culture. Among the highlights for visitors was the opportunity to discover unique and often one-of-a-kind merchandise from talented local artists and musicians.
Many attendees left with memorable finds, including the author of the summary who scored a broken guitar pedal and an amplifier from Grandchamp’s personal collection. The personal touch was evident, as Grandchamp greeted visitors warmly, offering hugs and appreciation for their support of the event. Overall, the Punk Rock Flea Market was a vibrant celebration of the local punk scene, fostering connections among musicians, artists, and fans.
