Workshop: Repurposing Fragments in Collage and Appliqué
In this hands-on workshop, artist Deirdre Hyde invites participants to explore collage and appliqué through an intuitive, improvisational approach. Rather than focusing on formal technique, the session centers on working with salvaged materials, including remnants of past projects, personal mementos, and fragments of vintage needlework that might otherwise be discarded. Over the course of two hours, participants will experiment with fabric, stitching, and found textiles to create new compositions guided by curiosity, memory, and play. Some materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring scraps of fabrics, previous artworks, photos, or other textiles they want to incorporate into newly repurposed works of art.
This workshop is presented in connection with the exhibition, Deirdre Hyde: Fragments of a Tropical Life, and in collaboration with River Gallery School of Art.
