Wes Brown Quartet featuring Jill Connolly / Koof Ibi

Bassist/composer Wes Brown studied world music traditions as an undergraduate, then began touring throughout the U.S. and internationally with various groups including Marion Brown, Anthony Davis, Leo Smith, Anthony Braxton, and Earl “Fatha” Hines. Adept in a number of musical styles, Wes has become known to audiences throughout New England while playing in various jazz, reggae and latin small and large groups. Recent ensembles have featured a number of his compositions, which often have a quirky and exuberant edge.

Vocalist Jill Connolly, has an unmistakable brand of soulful, sensitive vocals. A veteran of the music scene in Boston, Jill relocated to western Massachusetts and immediately became involved with the Vermont Jazz Center, studying with Sheila Jordan, Eugene Uman and others. With her unmistakable enthusiasm and an engaging, natural style, Jill brings a personal approach to her music. It’s all about communicating…” says Jill with a smile. Jill’s studio recording credits cover a wide range of styles, including rock, blues, a capella gospel, R&B, and of course, jazz. Jill is also a nationally known Voiceover Artist.

Dylan Walter is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator based in Shutesbury Massachusetts. Since graduating from UMass Amherst with a BA in music he has played with a variety of local groups and artists, including the Valley Jazz Voices, JTC quintet, Vienna Brick Road, and the Talking Deads. Walter’s particular style, drawing from a wide range of genres, has been described as heartfelt and lyrical, yet is always lighthearted and aims to entertain.

royal hartigan, one of the most unique artistic, influential drummers and scholars of our time, is a percussionist, pianist, tap dancer, educator, and author. for more than three decades, he has worked with master artists and musicians, dancers, visual artists, poets, social activists, and others to bring people together in celebration of our common humanity across cultures and national boundaries, through the medium of creative music in the african american tradition.

Koof Ibi is a multi-instrumentalist in the Philadelphia area. On any given day you could find him strolling down Broad Street straight into the Kimmel Center with brass bands like The West Philadelphia Orchestra, sharing the big stage with Japanese Breakfast, or performing in the Philadelphia Museum of Art with poet/musician Moor Mother. Koof effortlessly blends his diverse musical influences into his own distinct style. At his solo shows Koof combines live instruments, loops, samples, and effects pedals to create surprising soundscapes, re-invented covers, and sonic liberation.
