Vermont Theatre Company will present its annual Play in a Day festival on Saturday, April 19, at 7:30 pm, at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston, VT. Auditions will take place the night before (also at the Grange) on Friday, April 18, at 6 pm.
In the Play in a Day format, writers, directors, and actors work together in a fun, fast, and intense process, creating five short plays that are cast, written, rehearsed, and performed within a single 24-hour period. It’s a theatrical flash in the pan that audiences will not want to miss.
Artistic Director Jessica Iris has recruited 5 directors and 5 writers to bring the plays to life. Michael Nethercott will direct with writer Jeremy Geragotelis; actor Liam Johnson will be directing the work of NEYT director and writer Cayden Learey; Fashion designer Eli Coughlin-Galbraith will bring their directorial vision to the work of writer Steve Wangh; Director and actor Kay Beckett is teamed with NEYT teaching artist and writer Shannon Ward; and local artist and director Dante Mauriello will co-create with writer/actor Jesse Tidd.
For those interested in auditioning, please RSVP on the Play in a Day Audition form at vermonttheatrecompany.org. Come prepared to have some fun; auditions will consist of reading 6-8 line scenes and responding to requests from the directing/writing team. Casting decisions will be made by 8pm, and then the writers get to work!
Tickets are $10 to 15 for all admissions and will be available at the door.
