The Illuminated Atramentarium Sympathetic Medicine Show!

August 18 @ 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Come one, come all! Presented in collaboration with In Situ Polyculture Commons. An evening presentation on ink made from firearms, it’s alchemy, it’s application, and it’s metaphysical practice punctuated with vintage parlor tricks and magic by Thomas Little, proprietor of A Rural Pen Inkworks, ink made from guns. He will have his wondrous weapon-to-word ink available for sale!

Thomas Little, Proprietor of A Rural Pen Inkworks, requests the honor of your attendance at his presentation “The Illuminated Atramentarium Sympathetic Medicine Show!” He will expound on his miraculous product, an ink made from guns! This compound, rooted in the intersections of direct action, sympathetic medicine and practical magic, shall provide the writer, the poet, the artist, the opportunity to cast off the aspersions on the relevance of their craft. For in this ink, the most utile of substances, the user will find integrity and strength to stand and fight with beauty in their heart for this suffering world! Subvert the tools of oppression! Transmute the power infrastructure! Lay low the claws of violence beneath the crushing, majestic and mysterious sable wave of ink! While it is not an unguent for the skin or philter for the heart, or a peptic potion, A Rural Pen Writing Ink Made From Guns is a potent medicine, one that fortifies the soul! And behold the wonders of ink! The Nectar of Necromancy! The Menstruum of Memory! The Elixir of Enlightenment! In his presentation, Mr Little will demonstrate how in but one drop of this wonderous medium, the hallways of the mind shall be unveiled, and the specters that reside within it exposed. Using his considerable knowledge of chemistry and the occult, he will reveal the obscure and diaphanous tension between the material and ethereal worlds. Through the charming artifice of parlor magic, he will lay bare latent images of the mind otherwise unseen, produce objects from the netherregions of the spirit plane, and present other wonders and spectacles.

Artist Bio:
Thomas Little is an amateur ink historian and ink maker who explores mystic and scientific concepts through the lens of ink and our relationship to mark making. He gathers threads from alchemical imagery, chemical phenomena, and mystic observations to incorporate them into a holistic synthesis theory of art-science-magic. Through operations in the chemical theater, he hopes to encourage excitement and dilate the mind to the wonders of the psyche and the cosmos that reside in the humble inkwell. His work has been featured in the CNN Style section, American Craft magazine and Dark Mountain magazine. He has presented workshops and lectures at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, the Delaware Contemporary, the Rochester Institute of Technology and other institutions. His inks have also been collected for the material libraries of the University of Massachusetts and University of Pennsylvania.
