Thanya Iyer (synth, violin, voice, piano) is an enigmatic songwriter who crafts sparkling, experimental pop music. Her live band features Pompey (bass, clarinet, voice), Emilie Kahn (harp, flute, voice), and Daniel Gélinas (drums, voice), whose acoustic and electronic contributions enliven serene, spiritual compositions. Thanya and the band’s arrangements empower listeners to embrace mindfulness, aesthetic beauty, and the interconnectedness of all things. The group has performed all over Turtle Island, supporting acts like Julia Holter, Land of Talk, Kimya Dawson, Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, Jeff Parker, and Kevin Drew. Following their 2020 Polaris long-listed, sophomore visual album KIND, the band’s new record, TIDE/TIED (Topshelf Records), navigates the rhythms of communal identity, healing, and loving, within a dissonant world.
Michael Roberts is a guitarist, improviser, singer-songwriter, and sound researcher living in Vermont. Roberts founded the indie folk band Wooden Dinosaur, leads the Americana honky-tonk party band The Rear Defrosters, and composes ambient guitar and folk albums through his solo work, most recently Rose Gold, an album of folk songs released this year. As a bandleader and sideman he has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Newport Folk Festival, and the Thing in the Spring Festival, and shared bills with Iris Dement, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, the Devil Makes Three, the Suitcase Junket, and Chris Smither, among many others.
His newest band The Woods Vehicle is comprised of Max Adam on bass and Stefan Amidon on drums with special guest John Levin on ARP Odyssey.
