No woodworking experience required.
Learn to carve a spoon from a tree. This class will focus on gaining skills with two main tools of spoon carving – the sloyd (straight) knife and the hook knife. We will explore wood grain, learn different strokes and maintenance with each knife, and learn how to care for your body while carving. Students will leave the class with their own spoon, handouts of further resources, and the empowerment to continue learning and making things out of wood. This is a great class for beginners, as well as folks with some experience carving who are looking to brush up or reengage!
