Sharpening and Hand Tool Tune-Up
Bring your new or well-loved chisels, plane blades, and other woodworking hand tools and learn how to get them performing at their best! This hands-on clinic will demystify sharpening and tool maintenance so you can work more efficiently, safely, and with greater satisfaction.
Learn. The class will include live demonstrations on sharpening chisels, plane blades, and a backsaw, along with discussion of a variety of sharpening systems — their pros, cons, and best uses. You’ll also receive personalized guidance on tuning up both Western and Japanese planes, and learn techniques for proper use, setup, and ongoing maintenance.
Whether you’re new to hand tools or looking to refine your skills, you’ll leave with sharper edges, smoother cuts, and a deeper understanding of how to keep your tools in top form.
What to Bring:
- Any hand tools you’d like to sharpen or tune up (chisels, plane blades, saws, etc.)
- Bring any sharpening stones you may already have to learn how to better use them
- HatchSpace will provide sharpening supplies, stones, and jigs for use during class
