Deepen your confidence in teaching by learning the skillful art of hands on assisting. While clear verbal cueing and language creates a rich experience, the addition of touch encourages a deeper practice, fostering relaxation, and helping the student discover new possibilities within their practice. As part of the Fluid Yoga® 200 hour teaching curriculum this assisting technique acknowledges that the safest alignment starts within the student’s own mind and encourages intuitive adjustments. We’ll break down assists for various postures and examine the intention, pressure, and direction behind our contact. By exploring the subtleties of touch, we’ll be able to develop skills to foster deeper, more meaningful connections with our students and the practice itself.
What you’ll learn:
- How to assist and adjust a variety of standing, seated and supine postures based on the Fluid Yoga® vinyasa teaching style.
- The anatomical theory for assists and adjustments for common yoga postures.
- How to safely provide assists and adjustments for the practitioner as well as for yourself.
- Actual hands on practice with students.
- Understanding consent and recognizing various reasons why someone might not want physical assists.
