Music in the North Barn: Convergence Quartet with Wanda Houston

The Convergence Quartet featuring vocalist Wanda Houston brings a blend of swing, funk and Colombian rhythms to Retreat Farm’s Jazz Night Series.

Composer and pianist Eugene Uman will present his Convergence Quartet featuring Wanda Houston on March 26th, 2026 in a special performance at the Retreat Farm’s North Barn. The Convergence Quartet balances an artistic tightrope blending a variety of music that is innovative and exploratory as well as accessible and groove-oriented.

Leader Eugene Uman uses this group to present his own original compositions, many of which were inspired by his years living in Colombia, South America. “The intention when writing these pieces was to combine the vocabulary and swing of jazz with the edge of rock and funk and the inspiration of Colombian folkloric rhythms such as pasillo, cumbia and currulao” says Uman.

This March 26th performance will include world-class vocalist, Wanda Houston, as well as David Picchi on electric bass and Jon Fisher on drums. When Houston joins the group, the vibe and repertoire embraces her penchant for singing soul and gospel music, as well as classic jazz standards.

Free show! Food by Taste of Wantastegok, drinks available from the Thirsty Goat Bar.
