Hidden in the Hills: Stargazing at Taft Hill Farm Observatory

As part of BMAC’s Hidden in the Hills series, spend a summer evening at Taft Hill Farm Observatory beneath a canopy of stars, where the night sky meets art inspired by the cosmos.

The observatory is home to an 8½-inch Thomas Cooke refractor telescope, commissioned in the 1860s for British astronomer Frederick Brodie and now in use by Robert and Kathy DuGrenier in West Townshend, Vermont. Since November 2025, observations of the moon and planets through this historic telescope have sparked DuGrenier’s latest series of blown glass works. Guests can tour the observatory, glimpse the new glass creations, peer through the telescope, and linger with a drink by the fire under the stars.
