The activist singer/songwriting duo Emma’s Revolution invites the community to get “recharged, inspired and energized” at a benefit concert for Southern Vermont for Palestine and All Souls Church on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m..
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, or by donation. Advance tickets are available on line at ascvt.org/SoVT4P and at Everyones’ Books on Elliot Street. All Souls Church is at 29 South Street in West Brattleboro.
Known for fearless, truth-telling lyrics and melodies, Emma’s Revolution is the award-winning activist duo of Pat Humphries & Sandy O. Their signature soaring harmonies and lush acoustic instruments span folk to jazz and funk to rock. Performing as a duo for almost 25 years, the pair have lent their voices to a range of social justice movements.
They independently chose to support Southern Vermont for Palestine, an all-volunteer group of area parents, artists, teachers, students, and workers who oppose Israel’s genocide in Gaza and apartheid occupation of the West Bank. The group calls for freedom, justice, equality, sovereignty, and democracy for all people in the region between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
“In this intense and unprecedented time, when lives are on the line in Gaza and our rights, norms and democracy are on the line here in the US, all of our voices are needed to create the country and the world we want to live in,” the duo said in a statement.
“The music of Emma’s Revolution has inspired my activism for years,” noted Shana Frank, a member of Southern Vermont for Palestine. “Songs such as Pat’s classic “Keep on Moving Forward” fuel me with energy to organize for Palestinian rights and to defend civil liberties at home.”
As independent artists and queer and non-conforming women, Emma’s Revolution has a national presence among communities, organizations and venues that share the duo’s values of people over profit, compassion over violence, demanding accountability and building a more just and sustainable world.
