DIY Carpentry: Folding Sawhorses

Build a rock-solid pair of sawhorses while learning essential carpentry skills you’ll use again and again. This hands-on class is perfect for beginners, even folks who’ve never used power tools, and a great refresher for those looking to level up their shop fundamentals.

Learn. Students will learn how to read a cut list, measure and mark accurately, and safely break down dimensional lumber. Instruction will cover common household tools including the compound miter saw, jig saw, and circular saw, as well as proper use of hand saws, drills, hammers, and wrenches. You’ll practice layout techniques with a sliding T-bevel, drilling and fastening with bolts and screws, basic glue-up methods, and general shop safety.

Make. Students will build a sturdy, foldable pair of wooden sawhorses designed for both strength and efficient storage. Constructed from 2×4 lumber, the sawhorses feature angled legs and reinforced stretchers that allow them to fold flat when not in use. The finished sawhorses can be easily hung on a wall.

Saturday, March 21  |  10am – 5pm  |  Class will break for a 1/2 hour lunch.

Cost: $195 non-members: $165.75 members (plus an additional $50 materials fee).
