Gallery Walk continues into November & December with a different format, one that we know the devoted and longstanding Gallery Walk purists will LOVE. Why? Because it’s all about the Galleries, their exhibits, and it’s got a more mellow and un-hurried vibe. Take your time and stroll stop to stop, taking in some absolutely top-notch art. There is no street closure for these events. Our advice? Grab a Program! The first step here is to pickup a printed program (or plan to use the digital version at brattleboro.com). They are located at all the galleries, The Chamber of Commerce on Main Street. You can use this map to find your way around and you can read a bit about each exhibit. Have Dinner! Pick a Downtown restaurant and make a night of it. Look Around! And notice the faces you run into, familiar and new. Notice the myriad bits of creativity tucked into nearly every nook and cranny around Downtown. We promise that if you look, you’ll be surprised by the unexpected and delightful things you’ll find! The Galleries: 118 Elliot: “Evolution of a Voice” : Tina Olsen Solo Show. Abstract Expressionist work in oils, watercolor and ceramics spanning from the early 60s to the present time. Tower Bar & Lounge: Sara Corbin is a Brattleboro collage artist who enjoys regular collaging sessions with two of her sisters. Her work often features ocean themes and holographic stickers, and could be described as not afraid to be psychedelic”. Harmony Collective: Stu Copans show will focus on four areas: Papercutting, in which he particularly focuses on the variety of symmetries and in tribal symbols, Cartooning, Scholar’s Rocks (naturally occurring rocks of any color or shape which were historically prized in Chinese culture) and Bookmaking. WVEW: Flamboyant layers overpower my figures to draw attention to the environment. Pop colors, unfit for consumption, are cautionary. Water flows wildly, controlled by men and pipes. But the pipes can’t hold and we can no longer swim in the places we once could. First Proof Press: A community-based studio dedicated to the many forms of fine art printmaking. Mediums such as intaglio, screen printing, relief printing and monotypes can be explored in our member-driven studio space. It’s like a gym membership, but for printing! State of the art equipment in a beautiful space plus a welcoming community of artists. Check out First Proof Press today. Vermont Center for Photography: VCP presents Vermont photographer Dona Ann McAdams’ solo exhibition “Black Box: A Photo Memoir”. This exhibit covers nearly six decades depicting pivotal moments in the US, such as the Queer Liberation movement, the Culture Wars, and the Performance Arts scene of the 1980’s and 1990’s. On display in VCP’s Main Gallery Nov 1 through Dec 29, 2024 with an opening reception on Fri Nov 1st from 5-8pm. High Street & Green: High Street & Green is a new creative space for events & gatherings and a must-see destination in Brattleboro. It’s home to HatchSpace community woodworking shop, Vermont Center for Photography, First Proof Press, A Vermont Table fine dining, Wheelhouse Clay Center, Gravitate Pinball arcade, WVEW community radio, and a host of independent artists & craftspeople. You’ll find something to love, something to do, and something to buy! Centre at the Green, Centre Church: Enjoy an exhibit by one of CCC’s members. Laury is interested in accessing the raw emotion and unchecked creativity she felt in kindergarten. Teddy Martin will be playing piano in the parlor. Seasonal soups will be available for purchase. Mitchell-Giddings Fine Art: Through Jan. 5, 2025, Decade: 2014 – 2024, clelebrating MGFA’s first 10 years with a gallery-wide exhibit of artist prints. (Image: Emily Mason, 1985, Untitled monotype) In-Sight Photography Project: In-Sight’s Gallery will feature images from their Youth Photo Awards program. Gallery in the Woods: Benjamin Sears’ drawings are explorations of psychologically charged spaces. The imagery is shaped by environments that have resonated with the artist, both real and imagined. His drawings and paintings have been exhibited throughout the Northeastern United States. Brattleboro Museum & Art Center: The drawings of Alex Callender, Nandini Chirimar, Tara Geer, Maggie Nowinski, Dana Piazza, and James Siena range from expressionist to abstract to representational, demonstrating how the practice can develop organically and also document and preserve memories, in “Desire Lines.” In Adrienne Elise Tarver’s site-specific installation “Roots, Water, Air,” nature bears witness to the passage of time and what is lost and what remains. Susan Mikula’s haunting photographs capture the ghosts and decayed history of the Island, a 30-acre shelf of bedrock in the Connecticut River next to Bellows Falls, Vermont in “Island.” In “The Noise of Us,” artists Felipe Baeza, Ori Gersht, Simonette Quamina, and Maika’i Tubbs each explore migration, identity formation, and a sense of belonging in their assemblies of various paper components. “The Living Room” is a comfy space for visitors to hang out, read, chat, and enjoy rotating displays of community artwork. BMAC’s window panels feature large-scale reproductions of landscapes that are surreal, dream-like, and full of stories and questions about our past, present, and future by Vanessa Compton, in “A Night at the Garden.” Drop by during Gallery Walk (5 to 9 p.m.) for family artmaking activities and live local music. Gallery 34: “I Chose Those Things” Cathy Osman has been painting for the last several years after an extended period of printmaking and collage work. Her work with flowers in still-life settings occupies a space between observation and invention. Things that are solid in fact become kinetic in her imagination. Vermont Artisan Designs: Oil paintings primarily of New England by Jacqueline Jones and Don Demers. Also plein air paintings by Beth Bathe. https://www.facebook.com/events/386174037904004/”
