The bandsaw excels at cutting curves, but it can also be set up for re-sawing thin slices of veneer. In this intensive workshop, Tim covers the fine points of blade choice, setting the guides and adjusting the fence the way the blade wants to cut. Once cut, the veneer is run through the thickness sander to create uniform sheets of thick veneer.
Students will have the chance to saw and sand their own veneer, and Tim will show a variety of ways that he has used thick veneer in his own work.
With more than 35 years of making behind him, Tim Coleman has produced hundreds of original designs that have been exhibited in museums and galleries nationwide.
A long-time teacher and writer for Fine Woodworking Magazine, Tim loves to share his technical knowledge and innovative surface embellishment techniques at schools throughout the US and through classes at his own studio. His aim as a teacher is to inspire students with possibilities and give them techniques to be able to explore and express their own ideas in furniture.
