With almost 60 years as printmaker, painter, educator and inventor of the solarplate etching process, Dan Welden’s presence in the world of printmaking is ubiquitous and profound. Mitchell • Giddings Fine Arts celebrates Welden’s 82nd birthday with his 100th solo exhibition which revolves around Welden’s own paintings and prints, and a first-time showing of ‘masterworks,’ hand pulled collaborative impressions created with current and past masters. Artists include Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Kiki Smith, Eric Fischl, Dan Flavin and a host of others.
The show will premier Welden’s documentary film Lasting Impressions, Sat., October 21, 3:30 – 4:30.
