How about: “Spotlight on the Fools Block Party in Burlington”?

The Fools Block Party took place on August 2 at the Church Street Marketplace and City Hall Park in Burlington, following the unexpected cancellation of the Festival of Fools. This annual street performance celebration, hosted by Burlington City Arts, was revived as a two-day event, showcasing a variety of entertainment despite being scaled down.

The party featured exhilarating displays of strength and agility, including juggling and balancing acts, alongside captivating performances by clowns, tumblers, and contortionists. Though the musical acts were limited, they were still impactful, with highlights including Woody Keppel’s Hokum and a strongman act from Russia.

The evening saw a relaxed transition into night with BCA’s Twilight Block Party in City Hall Park, featuring a soothing set by the folk duo Cricket Blue, followed by an energetic performance from indie band Robber Robber. This revival of the festival exemplified BCA’s commitment to providing engaging and diverse entertainment for the community, proving that even in a condensed form, the spirit of celebration and performance remains vibrant in Burlington.
