Vermont Music News: Grand Point North Returns to Burlington

Grace Potter’s Grand Point North music festival will return to Burlington’s waterfront from September 12-14, featuring headlining performances by Potter on the first two nights, followed by Connecticut’s jam band Goose on Sunday. The festival will also showcase a diverse lineup of local talent, including acts like The Wet Ones!, Burly Girlies, Grace Palmer, Heady Betty, and Dutch Experts, with more artists to be announced. Tickets are available at highergroundmusic.com.

In addition, a new quarterly comedy series called “The Lowdown at Higher Ground,” hosted by Maggie Maxwell, will debut on June 30 in South Burlington. The inaugural lineup includes Vermont’s comedy talents Julia Colasanti, Meredith Gordon, Rob Hale, Levi Silverstein, and Alex St. Louis. More details can also be found at highergroundmusic.com.

On the music front, indie-rock band Dari Bay, led by Zack James, has released a new single titled “The Joke,” complete with a quirky music video featuring scenes from a pet store. Additionally, Rei Kimura, known for her work with Brattleboro’s Moxie, has launched her solo career with “The Mountains,” showcasing a transition to pop and roots music.

Vermont will also celebrate its 10th Make Music Day this Saturday, June 21. Originating in France in 1982, the event promotes global music creativity. In Vermont, Big Heavy World will track local musicians participating in various performances across towns, with registration open for those wishing to join.
