Timeless storytelling and breathtaking harmonies as Sons of Town Hall and Alice Howe & Freebo take the stage

PUTNEY, VT – Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present a mesmerizing evening of storytelling and song with folk duos Sons of Town Hall and Alice Howe & Freebo on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 PM at Next Stage in Putney, VT.

Sons of Town Hall

Part folk concert, part theatrical performance, Sons of Town Hall is a transatlantic duo featuring American songwriter/author David Berkeley and British songwriter/producer Ben Parker. Performing under the mythical personas of Josiah Chester Jones and George Ulysses Brown, they spin spellbinding tales of adventure, longing, and heartbreak, interwoven with soaring harmonies and evocative melodies. Their shows transport audiences into a timeless, dreamlike world, where song and story blend seamlessly, drawing comparisons to Simon & Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, and The Lumineers.

Their live performance serves as a companion to their radio-theater podcast, Madmen Cross The Water, a wildly imaginative and immersive listening experience. Every song, every tale is an invitation to set sail into a universe filled with whimsy, wanderlust, and poetic beauty.

Alice Howe & Freebo

The second half of the evening brings the soulful, richly expressive vocals of Alice Howe, paired with the legendary fretless bass stylings of Freebo.

🌟 Alice Howe – A powerhouse folk/Americana singer-songwriter, recently named Best Female Artist at the International Acoustic Music Awards. Her latest album, Circumstance, was recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and channels influences from Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt to Joan Baez.

🎸 Freebo – A rock bass icon best known for his 10-year stint with Bonnie Raitt, Freebo has recorded and toured with Ringo Starr, Crosby Stills & Nash, John Mayall, and Maria Muldaur. For decades, he has also built a reputation as a lyrical and introspective songwriter, blending blues, folk, and Americana.

Together, Alice and Freebo create an intimate, emotionally resonant experience, mixing original songs with timeless folk classics in a performance that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly new.
