Gallery Walk ‘23 is coming to a close with our last event of the season on December 1st 5-8pm. We invite you to come downtown for an art extravaganza. 17 galleries with exhibits for you to feast your eyes on- all walkable within Downtown Brattleboro! Grab a program from one of our participating galleries and take a stroll, enjoy some art & food, and wait, there’s more! A question we anticipate you might have:
1. Is there a street closure- No, we do not close Elliot St or Harmony Lot for the months of November/ December.
Not only is it Gallery Walk, it’s Holly Days, Holly Nights- the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce’s signature holiday shopping promotion on Dec 1, 2, 3. It’s a coupon book, with deals galore. And NEW this year- Downtown Brattleboro Alliance is pleased to announce Holly LIGHTS. Attendees will walk around downtown during Gallery Walk and vote on their favorite holiday window display. The winner will be announced on December 4th at noon and they will receive $1000 of free advertising on WRSI- The River. Voting is online and can be accessed Dec 1-3 at Brattleboro.com and via QR code on the window decals of participating merchants. The windows downtown are going to be over the top beautiful and we can’t wait to see it!

The Collective: The collaborative works of two life long friends. A series of paintings that are at times competitive, at times co-created, at times clearly a physical embodiment of two friends doing what they love.
Harmony Collective: Ruby Rice: Intimate Immersion: Mixed Fiber; Wall / Wearable Art. Profound appreciation & intimate immersion into the natural world. “… My hands are being guided, one stitch at a time.”
Vermont Center for Photography: VCP’s Main Gallery features the work of South Dakota-based artist Epiphany Knedler whose work addresses the commodification of the landscape and troubled history of the American West and Great Plains. VCP’s Print Gallery will feature student work from VCP’s Focus Forward program.

Brattleboro Museum & Art Center: Aurora Robson’s “Human Nature Walk” is fashioned entirely from plastic debris intercepted from the waste stream. Robson’s BMAC installation—her first solo exhibition in New England—represents a compendium of the artist’s innovative approaches to repurposing plastic: bending, welding, sewing, injection-molding, and more. Visitors are invited to contribute to it by collecting and cleaning plastic bottle caps and then placing them in specially designated sections of the installation.
In “Home Bodies,” ceramics by Fawn Krieger and textiles David B. Smith archive and celebrate creative labor. Each artist layers physical materials and visual forms, exploring ideas of attachment, association, relation, embodiment, and perception.
Art Costa creates sculptures inspired by organisms that live in the deepest parts of the ocean. “Sounds Deep” features these fantastical creatures, which Costa makes from found cardboard, natural materials, and paper-mache.
Utilizing traditional printmaking techniques and digital technologies, Michael Smoot explores the relationship between our conceptions of the material world and our embodied existence in “And To This World.”
This fall and winter, the museum’s East Gallery has been transformed into The Living Room, a comfy space for visitors to hang out, read, chat, and enjoy rotating displays of artwork created by some of our many talented community partners.
Hannah Morris’s “Moveable Objects” is on view in the museum’s outdoor Window Gallery, and Lela Jaacks’s “micro/tele SCOPE” is on view in the sculpture garden.
We’ll see you at Gallery Walk!
