Pianist Michael Arnowitt and ImproVisions Jazz will be performing in Wendy’s Jazz Soiree series in Guilford on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. Arnowitt will be joined by Clyde Stats on upright bass and Keith Gibson on drums for a program of jazz classics, Arnowitt’s versions of jazz standards, selections from his jazz suite from “West Side Story,” and his arrangements of Gershwin’s “My Man’s Gone Now” and the Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby.” The trio will also play Arnowitt’s jazz arrangements of classical music based on Bartok’s Roumanian Dance no. 1 and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. Arnowitt, a child prodigy from Lexington, Massachusetts, has performed around the world and will be joined by Stats, who has performed with jazz greats Mose Allison, Bobby Watson, James Carter, and Joe Lovano, and Gibson, who has performed with Branford & Delfayo Marsalis, Melba Moore, Barry Harris, Jon Faddis, Donald Harrison, and Don Braden.
