Brattleboro Conscious Dance brings deep connections | Entertainment

Ben Homola and Leslie Zucker have been making conscious dance available in the Brattleboro area for over five years. They started the Brattleboro Conscious Dance in 2018 as they wanted to dance more and noticed a lack of opportunities in the area. The dance sessions are held on the second, fourth, and fifth Sundays of each month and have moved to Inner Heat Yoga for the colder months. The couple encourages people of all ages to participate and to donate between $15 to $25 per session. They see conscious dance as a form of movement meditation and a way to connect with the divine powers. The couple is inspired by the 5Rhythms practice but does not lead 5Rhythms sessions. The dance sessions are described as therapeutic and cathartic, with about 15 to 30 attendees at each session. Homola creates a playlist for each session, incorporating different types of music to establish the energy and flow he’s aiming for. He hopes to create a deeper connection among participants through the music and movement. Both Homola and Zucker have found conscious dance to be liberating and have seen it enhance their lives, and they hope to share this experience with others.
