The Wormdogs Discover Fresh Skills on Their Latest Album

The Wormdogs, a bluegrass-rock band from Vermont, recently launched a creative hotline to promote their self-titled album, set to release on December 6. The band, consisting of bassist Braden Lalancette, drummer Will Pearl, fiddle player Danica Cunningham, and guitarists Eric Soszynski and Nick Ledak, formed in 2017 and have since released several albums. Lalancette described the hotline as a humorous surprise that adds a unique element to their promotion.

For this album, the band sought to innovate their process, emphasizing that it feels like their first record. They embarked on a journey to New Orleans to record at Bigtone Records with Vermont-based producer Eric George, marking a significant change in their recording approach. By recording most of the album live, the band fostered deeper connections and experimented with new methods, resulting in a sound that feels more cohesive and representative of their artistic evolution.

Pearl reflected on the band’s growth, noting that they have become more aware of their desired sound over time. Previous collaborations, such as their Cookin’ With series, helped the Wormdogs refine their style. Their New Orleans trip not only provided a warm winter escape but also energized their creativity. Lalancette and Pearl, both farmers, relished the opportunity of recording in a milder climate.

With the advance single “Done Workin’” released earlier this summer, the Wormdogs are eager to showcase their new album, which highlights their collaborative spirit and chemistry. With all five members contributing to writing and vocals, the band emphasizes consensus and unity in their decision-making process. They will celebrate the album’s release on December 7 at Foam Brewers in Burlington and encourage fans to engage with their hotline for more information.
